The Balance Between Giving and Receiving: A Soluna x LSKD Mother’s Day Class
This one was for the givers. For the mothers, nurturers and supporters. For the ones who hold so much and sometimes forget to hold themselves. A practice in remembering: that you’re allowed to receive, that softness is strength, that making space for yourself is not selfish - it’s necessary.
The day began early – 5:30AM alarms and a 6:30AM car pack at Gracie’s. 30 mats and 30 headphones were piled into the car. We drove into the city, parked beneath Melbourne Central and listened to our class playlist to get into the vibes!
We made our way up to Level 2 (this time with trollies - courtesy of Anna’s dad). Our friend Emma welcomed us into the LSKD Melbourne space and we set to work – clearing racks, tidying the floor, laying down 25 signature Soluna mats in a space that was about to transform. Each mat was paired with headphones and a single rose, gifted by LSKD - a symbol of love and gratitude.
We changed into our new LSKD outfits – black leggings and a burnt orange crop beneath our Soluna tees - before welcoming guests as they arrived from 8AM. The room quickly filled with warmth, presence and anticipation.
Our 50-minute five-element sequence moved through breath, body and emotion. We began with air – heart-centred breathing, soft belly awareness and a gentle four-six rhythm to ground and arrive. Then earth – core-led yoga at slow and steady pace, to find stability and rhythm within the body. Fire followed, amping up the energy with pumping music, passion and excitement to build strength and heat. Then we softened into water – fluid movement and gentle sound, as we shook off what we no longer needed. And finally, we closed with spirit: with EFT tapping affirmations on giving and receiving.
We held space for that balance. The inhale and the exhale. The outpouring and the drawing in. An invitation to soften, to allow, to be held. As always, the five elements came together to allow us to feel it all, before letting it all go.
After class, the room was buzzing with conversation, as our community connected over juice and chia bowls - soaking up the final moments together on, seated on the mats. We reluctantly packed down to close the session, to allow the LSKD space to open and begin trading for the day. We could have stayed for hours!
So we took the energy with us to a nearby cafe on Lygon Street for a coffee and a yap - pinching ourselves about how we got to spend our morning. We then went back to Gracie’s to divide up the Soluna equipment, with Anna Sydney-bound on Monday (we can’t wait to share this experience with NSW!) We wrapped the day up with a sauna and ice bath at our favourite, Nimbus Co.
We said goodbye with teary eyes and full hearts, heading off in opposite directions - for now.
We’re so grateful to LSKD for having us, and to every beautiful human who moved, breathed and shared space with us!
With love,
Gracie and Anna
