Seated Movement ~ Slow Your Racing Mind

Some days the mind runs ahead of everything else. Thoughts stack, pace quickens and before long you're entirely up in your head - disconnected from the body that's been carrying you all along. This practice is the gentle interruption.

Part of the Earth chapter, this grounding movement sequence is designed to do exactly what the element asks of us: slow down, land, and feel the support of something steady beneath you. Anna guides you through a simple series of seated movements beginning with the knees - rocking them softly left and right to open the hips and bring a gentle rinse through the spine.

There is intelligence in returning to the body before trying to solve anything with the mind. When the nervous system is running fast, the invitation is not to think your way to calm - it is to move your way there - slowly and with attention.

This practice helps you notice the current pace of your nervous system without judgement, while offering the body a way to begin to settle.

Benefits:

  • Moves energy from the overactive mind into the body

  • Opens the hips and releases tension held in the lower body

  • Gently mobilises and rinses the spine

  • Slows the pace of the nervous system

  • Accessible from anywhere - no mat or equipment needed

A few minutes to come back down to earth.
