Hip Twist ~ To Rinse the Spine
Supine twists are a foundational movement practice used to release tension in the spine, create mobility and gently massage the internal organs. This simple sequence is part of Soluna's water chapter, using fluid, repetitive movements to help you let go of what no longer serves.
Lying on your back with knees wider than hip distance, you'll guide your knees from side to side while your gaze moves in the opposite direction. This creates gentle rotation through your spine, neck and head, helping to rinse out stiffness and restore natural movement patterns. The focus is on moving with your breath - inhaling through centre, exhaling to each side - allowing the rhythm to soften any rigidity.
These watery movements activate your parasympathetic nervous system, helping to release both physical tension and emotional holding. The twisting motion gently compresses and releases your digestive organs, supporting detoxification and creating space between your ribs for deeper breathing.
In this video, Anna guides you through this accessible practice that requires just a mat and a couple of minutes. Perfect for when you're struggling to sleep, feeling stiff from sitting at a desk or simply need to ease back into your body.
