What is Somatics ~ For Beginners

Most of us have been taught to relate to our bodies from the outside in. How they appear, how they perform, how they measure up. Somatics invites the opposite direction entirely.

The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma, meaning body. At its core, somatic practice is the art of experiencing the body from within. Tuning into sensation rather than appearance. Noticing rather than performing. Feeling rather than evaluating.

Gracie guides you through a simple and grounding explanation of what somatics actually is and why it sits at the heart of everything we do at Soluna. When we shift our attention inward, something fundamental changes. The body stops being something to manage or improve and becomes instead a source of information, wisdom and felt experience.

In somatic practice there are no wrong answers and nothing to get right. The only question is what you notice. A tightness here, a warmth there, a breath that moves differently than it did a moment ago. Over time, this quality of inner listening builds a relationship with your body that no mirror can offer.

If you are new to somatic work, this is the perfect place to begin. And if you have been practising for years, it is a beautiful reminder of why.

Benefits:

  • Introduces the foundations of somatic practice accessibly and clearly

  • Shifts attention from external appearance to internal sensation

  • Builds the skill of body awareness and inner listening

  • Reduces the pressure to perform and invites genuine presence

  • Deepens the relationship between mind, body and felt experience

The body is always speaking. Somatics teaches you to listen.
